First of all, why on earth did I quit affiliate marketing?

Most of you here know I was actively doing affiliate marketing from Mid 2021-Mid 2022 and I was earning pretty decent income from it.

In fact, I had enough to quit my teaching job and live off my affiliate marketing earnings.

Affiliate marketing was the business that gave me my first million naira and bought me a certain level of financial independence.

Those are some of my weekly earnings doing affiliate marketing...

And now you only have to wonder; 

“Why in the world did you quit this business if it paid you so much?”

𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙗𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣: 𝙄 𝙒𝘼𝙎 𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙈𝙔𝙎𝙀𝙇𝙁.

You would think that waking up in the morning to know that you are not going to be running to work or answer to any boss will make you feel great, but that's not totally true. 

It can make you feel miserable too.

When I quit my job, I became my own boss and becoming your own boss demands that you do a lot of work to maintain the boss status.

Truthfully affiliate marketing demands a lot of work.

So I worked from morning till midnight, sometimes forgetting to eat till 11pm. 

Of course the credit alerts kept coming in, but I had lost my quiet time, my reading habit and even my physical communication with people.

I would wake up to work and sleep on work.

It was exciting at first, but it later became really bothering…

I didn't feel fulfiled or happy and that eventually led me to a vice which I had overcome long ago…

I had a burn out.

I was stressed out like never before…

The only thing that changed this miserable feeling for me was when I met a personal development trainer who taught me to unwind, 

and forced me to leave my house every weekend to treat myself with a part of my income called 'weekly enjoyment money.'

That advice worked for a while but buying stuff for myself and going to cool places every weekend was not just enough…

Moreover, I became arrogant and would talk down to people who didn't make much money. I thought they were not serious with their lives.

I lost some of my friends because they thought I had become arrogant and unbearable. Some of them blocked me and I blocked some of them too….lol

Another thing is, I couldn't even manage my inflow and outflow.

Money was coming in and rushing out like a broken tap..

I was just buying stuff, solving family problems, sending people money, I couldn't control my appetite, I was always eating somewhere else, ordering stuff, I lost control over myself and chased pleasure….

One big mistake that haunted me all through was failing to keep my income information away from friends and they started billing me madly..

Some even borrowed money from me and have not paid back till today.

And the ones I couldn’t help turned themselves to enemies. They were mad at me.

In fact, one of them messaged me and told me that having my number was a waste…

He felt I had made it in life and had forgotten everyone…

(lol, me that was just trying to get out of grind)

But I’m glad I used that opportunity to help the few I could help. 

At least, I’m proud that someone got a POS business up and running because of me, school fees were paid, marriages were supported, and others…

I lost friends who were not meant to be friends, but it hurts because I truly loved them.

My arrogant pose and posts drove many of them away from me.

I lost touch with reality because I was now seeing money. The true colour of a man's soul will be revealed when he has money.

I guess I wasn't a really good and humble person after all,

I lost myself, I was stressed out, I almost lost my soul…

But…

If you are more disciplined than I am, and you won't become arrogant, 

and you're determined to do the work, then you should still consider affiliate marketing.

Don't mind what the ignorant and lazy people are saying about affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing has changed more life than any poverty alleviation program of any government administration.

Affiliate marketing has made more Nigerians millionaires than any business in Nigeria.

And truth be told, it doesn't really take time to start making decent income with affiliate marketing, it takes WORK.

I won't lie to you, YOU WILL WORK…

BUT your work will be rewarded handsomely.

If you finally know what you are supposed to do and you kill the d£mon of laziness and do your work religiously, and your income doesn't change then you should know that it's either you're cursed or your village people just want to finish you…

But you and I know that you're not cursed.

You're blessed.

What I have shared with you here were my major challenges when I just started making money with affiliate marketing, and they could become your challenge too if you start affiliate marketing.

They are not petty problems- they could ruin you.

But the question right now is what challenges will you be willing to face in 2023 to increase your income?

You may have to lose some so you can win some.

You will lose some of your friends who weren't meant to be your friends, and it will make you feel bad because you truly love them.

You may lose yourself like I did, but you will finally find out who you truly are on the inside and then start working on yourself…
